there is no elsewhere is haiku salut’s third album and sees the acclaimed trio from derbyshire continue their distinctive re-imagining of dreampop and rural electronica. influenced by the evocative film soundtracks of yann tiersen and benoît charest, the genre-melting electronica of early múm, and the impressionistic writing of haruki murakami, the band have previously released two critically acclaimed albums whilst last year they collaborated with public service broadcasting on the track “they gave me a lamp”, which featured on the psb’s top five album, every valley. yet it is this release that sees the band finally find their place, both musically and politically.

after releasing space control an intergalactic journey into synthesizers, back in 2012, the theremynt duo went on to release a successful, if steady, stream of eps, including robotique de l amou r and vampiros discos (a tribute to brazilian filmmaker ze do caixao). with remixes coming from the likes of david carretta, acid washed and club bizarre, these were playlisted by scene djs such as marvin & guy and ivan smagghe, amongst others. now yann and eva are striking back with their second lp, parallels. it s a record that sees them changing their colour palette and mood, but one that s still haunted by ghosts that lurk within their synthesizers and drum machines. the 10 tracks still exhibit peel s ever shifting vocal style and yann s sophisticated arrangements. but the second lp oscillates between ballad and dancefloor, landing between cosmic disco influences, krautrock and other progressive techno sounds. as a bonus, the album also features a cover of famous 80 s anthem self control. with this new project, madben & yann lean get back to the essence of techno with a raw sound based on groove, textures and catchy hooks. influenced by 90’s rave sound et artists like jeff mills, surgeon, dj pierre, dave clarke or dj funk the french producers like to write their music on-the-fly and are adepts of a very spontaneous track conception. with trunkline they bring back the unique texture of analogic techno. trunkline’s vinyl label will release the duo’s eps. they plan to release one maxi per trimester. the project will also take to the stage as a four deck dj set and then a 100% machine live performance in the summer of 2016.

der französische elektroniker m83 schrieb den soundtrack zu -you and the night- (-les recontres d apres minuit-), dem ersten spielfilm seines bruders yann gonzalez, der 2013 in cannes seine premiere feierte. musikalisch weicht m83 von seinem bekannten sound als künstler ab, und orientiert sich für den score an der intimität französischer filmmusik der 1970 er. Ähnlich wie beim soundtrack für - oblivion - ist auch hier wieder die norwegische sängerin susanne sundfor mit von der partie.
